If you missed it in 2013, get ready for the 2014 Melbourne International Coffee Expo.

The 2013 Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) was a huge success. Highlights included the World Barista Championship and the World Brewers Cup. 2013 was also the first time Lavazza opened a stand at MICE. Aside from offering an opportunity for visitors to sample Lavazza’s latest coffee blend, the Lavazza stand also showcased their product lines, including their popular espresso machines and stylish coffee accessories.
It was more than just an opportunity for Lavazza to show off their wares, though. They also used the occasion as a platform for spreading the word about the Tierra project and promoting Italian coffee culture in general. In addition, Lavazza hosted the finals of the “Baristar” Championship, an event that pitted Australia’s rising barista talents against each other.
Are you starting to feel like you missed out on something special? Don’t despair -- MICE is going to be even bigger and better in 2014. The event’s success in 2013 has led it to be selected as the host of the 2014 World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits, and World Cup Tasters Championship.
Have you ever marvelled at a barista’s artistic creations on top of a cappuccino or cafe latte? If so, you won’t want to miss this event, because the best of the best from around the world will be competing in Melbourne for the title of World Latte Art champion.
If you’re a coffee-flavoured cocktail connoisseur, you won’t want to miss the World Coffee in Good Spirits competition. Baristas will compete against each other for every imaginable coffee cocktail, from the best Irish coffee to their own unique exotic creations.
The World Cup Tasters Championship is designed to give credit to the unsung heroes of the coffee industry – the professional tasters whose expertise keeps coffee companies continually striving to improve their blends. The Tasters Championship will put their skills to the test. Whoever most skilfully, accurately and quickly distinguishes the taste differences in special coffee blends wins.
The 2014 Melbourne International Coffee Expo is scheduled to be held at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds from the 15th to the 18th of May 2014. For more information, visit the official MICE website.
